How to Become a SILC Member

The Maryland Statewide Independent Living Council is recruiting applicants for membership on the Council and for consideration for future vacancies. The Council (mandated by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended) monitors, reviews, and evaluates independent living services provided through the State Plan for Independent Living, developed jointly with the Maryland Department of Education, Division of rehabilitation Services.

Links below will lead you to the roles and responsibilities of the Council and the application for nomination form. Review the responsibilities carefully and do not apply unless you are willing to fulfill the responsibilities.

The Council seeks to maintain representation of all disability groups. If you or someone you know would like to apply for nomination to the Council, please return the completed application form to the MSILC office. Please feel free to duplicate this notice and the application form and share it with as many individuals as you wish.

Applications will be reviewed by, and nominees selected by, the Council. Nominees selected will be submitted to the Governor for consideration for appointment to the Council. This process can be lengthy. We appreciate your patience. If you have questions or need further information or assistance, please feel free to contact the SILC office.
